Appendicitis/ Laparoscopic Appendicectomy
Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix which is a tubular organ present at the beginning of the large intestine. It extends from 2 to 3 cm below the ileocecal junction and is usually 8 to 10 cm long. Appendicitis leads to pain that usually begins in the central abdomen and later localises in the right lower abdomen. Though it can occur at any age, it is usually seen in younger age groups from 10 to 30 years. Left untreated, it can lead to perforation of the appendix or an abscess formation.
