I strongly believe that we live only once and we must make the most of every living moment, doing things that we love to do. In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about painting, writing and doing my bit for the society.
Painting
I always enjoyed art, but during the younger years preparing for medical entrances and then almost a decade of studying medicine happened. The medical curriculum is so rigorous that it doesn’t leave time for anything. I took up the brush once again in 2012 when my husband and I bought our first house together. I made a painting for my house. It is almost a decade and I am very proud that the brush is still in my hands. I paint very regularly now. It’s the most joyful time that I spend with myself. In fact, now my son and I have painting sessions together. Painting takes me into another world. Its almost like meditation when I do not think about anything else. As a surgeon, life can be stressful at times, painting is my stress buster and helps me to relax.
Dr. Aparna Govil Bhasker is a Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgeon with experience of over 15 years. She is an alumnus of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sewagram.
