A rectal prolapse has occurred when the last few edges of the bowel become overextended and stick out from the lowermost part (rectum or anus).
A Rectal Prolapse can be treated surgically using laparoscopic technique.. During the operation, the inside layer of the bowel, or the part of the bowel that has prolapsed, is detached and stitched back together. The surgical procedure takes about 1 hour and can be executed by giving general anaesthesia.
Some risks are definite to this kind of surgery and failure of the repair of which, results in another rectal prolapse treatment.
